Athithaawarjanaa - H R Jothipala Upahaara Gee Pelahara
Athithaawarjanaa - H R Jothipala Upahaara Gee Pelahara is the third tribute CD for the legendary Sri Lankan pop artist H R Jothipala who died more than 22 years ago done by Nalin Jayawardena. The CD featuring here contains 20 not-so-heard yet great classics of Jothi re-sung by Nalin Jayawardena. These 20 songs were sung by H R Jothipala under the music direction of legendary Sri Lankan musicians such as Premasiri Khemadasa, Sarath Dasanayake, M K Roksamy, Shelton Premaratne and Melroy Dharmaratne. Current CD contains new music direction by Sangeeth Wickmarasinghe, Ananda Waidyasekera, Rohan Jayawardena, Kalasuri Stanley Omar and Premanath Kodituwakku. New duet are done by Minali Gamage and Nijamaalie Jayawardena. This CD also contains the first song of H R Jothipala, Mage Ran Rajini, that was music directed by the orginal music director Stanley Omar.
Athithaawarjana (In retrospect of the Legend), a collection of 20 original songs of the Sri Lankan vox populi of music, HR Jothipala, is now available for listening and downloading. Nalin Jayawardena, a veteran vocalist, as well as an ardent fan of HR Jothipala, living in Australia, has re-sung these great songs, retaining its original flavor and the classical feel. Nalin is assisted by Minali Gamage and Nijamali Jayawardena in duet singing. All the songs in this audio CD were originally sung by HR Jothipala for Sinhala films, SLBC and commercial records (EP) under the music direction of Maestro Premasiri Kemadasa, Sarath Dassanayake, Sangeeth Nipun P. V. Nandasiri, Lional Algama, Stanley Omar, Mohammad Sali, Victor Dalugama, Upendra Fernando and Melroy Dharmaratne. The lyrical compositions were done by Karunaratne Abeysekera , Upali Dhanawalawithana, Stanley Omar , Maithri Panagoda, George Lesley Ranasinghe , Premakeerthi De Alwis, Chitrananda Abeysekera , Henry Dharmasena, Dr. Ajantha Ranasinghe, Dharma Shri Caldera and Daya Ananda Ranasinghe.
The noteworthy feature is that most songs of this audio CD are very rare and even some Jothi fans did not have an opportunity to listen to them because of the unavailability of the songs. Some songs were even unheard of. Fulfilling this long-felt need, Nalin has taken great pains to find these rare assets from various sources and reproduce them in a highly professional manner. Nalin thanks Kalasuri Stanley Omar, Premnath Kodituwakku, Rohan Jayawardena, Sangeeth Wickmarasinghe and Ananda Waidyasekera for their fabulous new music direction.
